“Striding Towards Effectiveness: Evidence-Informed Strategies to Increase Learning Through Quality Teaching”

What constitutes effective teaching? Answers to this question range from the wisdom of experience to empirical attempts to capture the essence of quality teaching. Although many of us want to be good teachers (and wish our children have great teachers), answers to what make this up are not clear. This talk focuses on what has been shown to increase learning and provides pragmatic indicators of quality teaching which can be used for self or peer evaluation, promotion and tenure, merit reviews, and to increase learning in general.
